AKKtiv – Accessible communication tools website

The main challenge for AKKtiv was to create a fully accessible, inclusive, and highly user-friendly platform with clear information about AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). The target audience is broad and includes family members, educators, and healthcare professionals who need to quickly find practical tools to support individuals with communication disabilities. A well-thought-out structure was required to transform a large amount of complex, educational material and training resources into an easy-to-navigate flow. In addition, there were strict legal requirements regarding universal design and digital accessibility (WCAG), as the website itself must be usable seamlessly by people who have various types of functional variations and who rely on digital assistive technologies.

The launch of the new AKKtiv has resulted in significantly increased access to important knowledge, practical methods, and support tools in the field of alternative communication. The platform has become a central and invaluable hub that ultimately leads to improved everyday communication, greater independence, and increased participation for people with disabilities. The flexible WordPress system also makes it easy for editors to keep the site continuously updated with new courses and findings. We are proud to have provided the technical development for such a socially beneficial project.
